Congressional Apportionment Calculator

This calculator shows how many congressional representatives each state will receive based on a given set of 2030 population projections. The tool also shows how many people each state needs to gain or lose to gain or lose a marginal seat. These numbers provide additional context in instances where a state’s apportionment may be on the cusp of changing.

Several other organizations have released apportionment projections. Where possible, we have added those to the tool. See the links below for more information on each organization’s particular set of projections.

*These organizations released apportionment projections, but not the specific population counts for each state. As such, we were not able to add those projections to the calculator.
