Please note that absentee ballots have been allocated to precincts based on each precincts share of precinct-level votes for that contest within the relevant reporting unit. In Missouri there are 115 counties or county equivalents and 116 different reporting units, as the Jackson County portion of Kansas City reports its results separately. 2 counties (Scotland and Sullivan) only reported countywide results. 46 counties have precinct boundaries constructed out of 2020 Census VTD shapes, with the correspondence between results and VTDs sometimes informed by county maps or polling place info. In this file, the county for this precincts is marked as "Jackson", but the "Elec_Muni" is marked as "Kansas City". Please note that any absentee, provisional, federal or other non-precinct-level ballots have been allocated to precincts in this dataset using each precincts share of the precinct-reported vote for the relevant "Elec_Muni" geography. Counties in Missouri appear to vary in terms of whether write-in votes are reported at the precinct-level, as a result, these votes have been dropped from this file entirely. Contests with zero total votes in these counties have also been removed. Please note that this file may not contain all of the votes for an included contest and should not be used to determine winners of elections without consulting an outside source. Election results totals at the state level were compared against those available from the Missouri Secretary of State website (https://www.sos.mo.gov/CMSImages/ElectionResultsStatistics/2024GeneralElection.pdf), these votes matched in every instance. Checking for district splits resulted in identifying two state transcription errors in their election results in Pettis County State Legislative District 57 results. After joining the precincts to their boundaries, the files were checked for precinct-district splits. Ultimately, the precinct boundary and election result files are split across four different files. The "_all_" file contains all the election results joined to precinct boundaries, but does not account for the various precinct-district splits identified in processing and as such, does not contain district assignments. The "_cong_", "_sldl_", and "_sldu_" files contain Congressional, State House and State Senate results at the most granular units for which data is available. Please note that in order to minimize superfluous splits, precinct splits are only made when a precinct contains votes for candidates in multiple districts, as such district assignments for precincts many not perfectly correspond to the districts themselves, particularly in large, uninhabited areas. In a handful of cases, votes appear in districted contests in which no portion of the precinct is contained within the district. This occurred in 11 precincts across the state and affected Congressional District 4 and State House of Representatives districts 11, 13, 15, 58, 61, 121, 124, 125, and 141. As a result of this issue, these votes are removed from their respective splits files, "_cong_" and "_sldl_" file and the totals will not exactly match. As a result, the "_cong_" file will have 2 fewer votes in the 'GCON04DCAS' contest. In the "_sldl_" file there will be 80 fewer total votes, across the following contests: {'GSL011RSHI': 27,'GSL013DDEN': 5,'GSL013RPOU': 3,'GSL015RJON': 2,'GSL058RHAL': 2,'GSL061RSAS': 13,'GSL121RHAR': 9,'GSL124DHAL': 3,'GSL124RMAY': 9,'GSL125RDIE': 2,'GSL141RSCH': 5} These votes are not removed from the "_all_" file. Precinct boundaries were checked against a voter file from L2 pulled on January 2025. These checks revealed a handful of minor discrepancies between official boundaries and how ballots appear to have been delivered.
